Hand painted and signed by the artist Helen Elizabeth this one of a kind knob ball walking stick depicts a red squirrel.

Stick Measurements

Artwork takes up = the whole of the ball, protected with marine varnish. 

Shank diameter at top and tappers to the bottom  = approx 2 1/2cm

Total length of stick from the top of ball to end of stick = approx 118cm


Design

All sticks are lovingly handcrafted made from natural materials, constructed using traditional stick making methods.

These sticks are very tactile as well as stunning and different to look at. The handles are lovely and smooth to hold. You can feel the contours of the wood the surface is not always totally smooth giving it more life and interest.

The Stick

All wood has been seasoned for at least 1 year before being straightened to make a strong sturdy shank.

The beautiful tactile knob ball top is lovely to hold and has been hand worked to a give it a smooth finish.  

And finally to finish, marine varnish is used to add luster and further protection to the naturally durable materials.

Ferrule

A metal ferrule has been fitted to the end of the stick.

 

The red squirrel is native to the UK they are endangered due to loss of their habitat and the introduction of the grey squirrel. Thankfully there are areas where they are now thriving as their woodland has been protected and the grey controlled. Such a cute lovely creature. 

What is a knob handled walking stick?
A knob handled walking stick - the shank has a lump of wood attached at the top, used as a handle this has been taken from a branch, the trunk of the tree or even a root. The lump of wood is then shaped to make a lovely handle, which is easy and comfortable to grip
