Hand painted and signed by the artist Helen Elizabeth this unique petit ornimental bird cage would be an unusual focal point in any room.
All the external surfaces of the cage (except the bottom) have been lavisly hand painted with a variety of colourful country scenes. Making this a beautiful and interesting 3D piece of art.
Artwork
This piece was a labour of love taking several months to complete and many hours going into the extravagant watercolour paintings.
Dominating one end of the cage is a stunning painting depitching colourful goldfinch's on thistle and gorse.
Racing around the bottom skirting of one side are two lively lurchers. And chilling out on the other skirting are grazing cob horses amoungst a vintage caravan camping scene.
The artwork doesnt stop there, the top of the cage frame mirrors a spring blue sky with apple blosson spreading between the cage side bars.
Then to finsih two little goldfinches with thistle frame the tray end of the cage.
The Design
The cage made from wood and wire has been made like a functional bird cage although it is to be used for ornimental purposes only.
The cage has a wooden slide out bottom tray. There is a small wooden feeder draw to the side with three feed slots inside.
A slide up and down door is positioned at one end.
The bottom of the cage under the draw is wired.
Finish
Several coats of two-component Epifanes Polyurethane Clear Gloss Varnish has been painted over the artwork achieving a brilliant, long-lasting finish. This high-gloss marine varnish is designed for ultimate durability. to offer exceptional protection.
The internal surface has been given a wax finish.
